My Jiu Jitsu Journey Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how The Jiu Jitsu Mindset ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use the My Jiu Jitsu Journey mobile app and its related services (the "App").
We are the data controller of your personal information. You can contact us at any time using the details in the "Contact Us" section below.
2. Information You Give Us
• Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), your role (such as student, junior student or professor), your belt rank and your academy.
• Profile content: your profile photo and anything you add to your profile.
• Posts and activity: photos, videos, captions, comments, likes, hashtags, the people you tag, friend requests and connections, and messages in academy chats.
• Training journey: training logs, check-ins, goals, techniques, events, tournaments, milestones and badges. If you choose to use weight tracking, we store the weight entries and weight goals you enter.
• Reports and blocks: content or users you report and users you block.
• Consents: the date you accepted our Terms and this Privacy Policy, and your email preferences.
• Support: anything you send us when you contact us.
3. Information Collected Automatically
• Device and app information: device type, operating system, app version, language and IP address.
• Push notification token: a token from Apple or Google that lets us send you notifications.
• Advertising and install data: we use Tenjin to measure which marketing campaigns lead people to install and subscribe to the App (see "Who We Share Information With"). On Android this may include your Google advertising ID. On iOS we only access your advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking when your device asks.
• Purchase information: when you subscribe, Apple or Google gives us a transaction ID, the product you bought and its renewal and expiry dates. We never receive your card or bank details.
We only access your camera, photo library or microphone when you choose to take or upload a photo or video. If you turn on biometric sign-in (Face ID or fingerprint), your biometric data stays on your device. It is never sent to us.
4. How We Use Your Information
• To create and run your account, sign you in and keep it secure.
• To show your profile, posts and training journey to other users according to your privacy settings.
• To run academy features such as membership, chats and announcements.
• To send you push notifications and emails, such as sign-in codes, account messages and reminders you have turned on.
• To process and verify subscriptions with Apple and Google.
• To check uploaded images for nudity, violence and other content that breaks our Community Guidelines.
• To review reports, enforce our Terms and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
• To measure our marketing and improve the App.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show third-party advertising in the App.
5. Who We Share Information With
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the App, and only for the purposes above:
• Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosting, and storage of the photos and videos you upload.
• MongoDB Atlas: our database, which stores your account and App data.
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivering push notifications using your device's notification token.
• Tenjin: install and marketing attribution. Tenjin receives device information, IP address, advertising ID (where permitted), your App user ID and in-app events such as subscriptions. Tenjin's privacy policy is available at https://tenjin.com/privacy/.
• Apple App Store and Google Play: processing payments and subscriptions under their own privacy policies.
• Sightengine: automated checks of uploaded images for inappropriate content.
• Resend: sending emails such as sign-in and password reset codes.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of our users or the public, to enforce our Terms, or as part of a merger, sale or other business transfer.
6. What Other Users Can See
Your name, profile photo, belt rank and the posts you share are visible to other users of the App. Private journal entries and private training logs are visible only to you. Weight data is private by default. If you block someone, they can no longer see your profile, posts or comments, and you will not see theirs.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep your information while your account is active.
If you delete your account in the App, your profile, posts and comments are hidden from other users straight away. You then have 30 days to restore your account by signing in again. After 30 days, we permanently delete your account, the photos and videos you uploaded, and your related records.
Sign-in codes and unfinished sign-ups are deleted automatically within 7 days. We may keep limited records for longer where the law requires it, such as purchase records.
8. Children
The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Junior students aged 13 to 17 may use the App only with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We protect your information with measures such as password hashing, access controls and limits on repeated sign-in attempts. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses of it, and to withdraw your consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
• Delete your account at any time in the App's settings.
• Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• On iOS, you can refuse or withdraw tracking permission in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.
• Contact us to make any other request. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
11. International Transfers
Our service providers may store and process your information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. If the changes are significant, we will tell you in the App.
