Mexican Independence Day weekend is always one of the loudest nights on the UFC calendar, and this year's edition in Glendale, Arizona did not disappoint. Add a cleared superstar, a vacant title booked for October, and a stacked pay-per-view landing this Saturday, and there is plenty to catch up on. Here is everything that mattered in MMA over the past seven days.

Jean Silva Submits Jose Miguel Delgado in the Noche UFC Main Event

Noche UFC: Silva vs Delgado went down Saturday, September 12 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, and the featherweight main event was a slow burn that ended emphatically. Jean Silva barely threw a strike for the first half of round one and got dropped by a Jose Miguel Delgado right cross, but the Fighting Nerds representative found his rhythm in the second and took over in the third — dropping Delgado along the fence with a right hand, then riding a scramble to the back and finishing with a one-armed rear-naked choke at 2:57 of round three.

The win moves Silva to 7-1 inside the Octagon with six finishes, and he wasted no time making his case for a championship opportunity in the post-fight interview. Delgado, who took the main event on short notice in his home state, has nothing to be ashamed of — he was winning the fight outright until Silva woke up. Full results are on UFC.com.

Brandon Moreno Gets Back in the Win Column

In the co-main event, former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno edged Joseph Morales by split decision in a fight that stayed almost entirely on the feet through two rounds. Moreno was the one pressing forward, but Morales landed clean often enough to make it competitive. The third round settled it: Moreno out-scored Morales down the stretch and closed with a well-timed takedown, riding out the final 90 seconds in top position.

Moreno had entered on a two-fight skid, so this was as much an emotional reset as a scorecard win — and he got it in his first Noche UFC appearance.

Alexa Grasso Beats Manon Fiorot and Moves to the Front of the Line

Alexa Grasso turned in arguably the best performance of the night among the non-finishers, taking a unanimous decision (29-28 across the board) from French contender Manon Fiorot. Grasso came out hunting, hurt Fiorot inside the opening 30 seconds, and dropped her again late in round one. She kept the pressure on through a bloody second round and traded evenly in the third.

It is Grasso's second straight win of 2026 and it plants her squarely in the flyweight title conversation at exactly the right moment — more on that below.

McMillen Stays Perfect; Blaydes and Martinez Grind Out Decisions

The middle of the main card produced the fight of the night in a fifteen-minute war between Tommy McMillen and Marwan Rahiki. Rahiki battered McMillen in the second and had him on the brink, but McMillen survived, took the third outright, and swept the cards to move to 12-0. He immediately called for a fourth fight in 2026.

Elsewhere, Curtis Blaydes fought a disciplined, jab-and-takedown fight to beat Waldo Cortes-Acosta by unanimous decision and likely reclaim a spot in the heavyweight top five, though it was not the most thrilling 15 minutes of the evening. And David Martinez opened the card by chopping down Dan Ige's lead leg en route to a unanimous decision, pushing his Octagon record to 4-0 and his overall win streak to 11. On the prelims, Tim Elliott beat Edgar Chairez and Ignacio Bahamondes handled Muslim Salikhov, both by decision.

Title Picture: A Vacant Flyweight Belt at UFC 332

With champion Valentina Shevchenko sidelined by an injury expected to keep her out for at least a year, the UFC has booked Natalia Silva against Cong Wang for the vacant women's flyweight title in the UFC 332 main event on October 3 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Silva rides a 14-fight win streak into it, with wins over Rose Namajunas, Alexa Grasso and Jessica Andrade in her last three. Wang has won four straight, most recently over Tracy Cortez. Ilia Topuria Is Cleared — and Dana White Has Two Fights in Mind

Dana White confirmed this week that Ilia Topuria is healthy and ready to return, well ahead of the timeline anyone expected after the facial and foot injuries he suffered in his June TKO loss to Justin Gaethje. White floated two options: a Gaethje rematch for the lightweight title, or a grudge match with Paddy Pimblett. The catch is that Gaethje has said he is not fighting again in 2026 while he recovers, which makes the Pimblett route the more realistic near-term booking. Bloody Elbow has the full rundown.

Looking Ahead: UFC 331 in Los Angeles This Saturday

The week ahead is a big one. UFC 331: Van vs. Pantoja 2 lands Saturday, September 19 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with flyweight champion Joshua Van running it back with Alexandre Pantoja in the main event. Underneath it: Arman Tsarukyan vs. Mauricio Ruffy in a five-rounder, Renato Moicano vs. Brian Ortega 2, Patricio Pitbull vs. Doo Ho Choi, and Marlon Vera vs. Charles Jourdain.
