Jiu-Jitsu Weekly Roundup · Monday, September 7, 2026
This is the calm before the storm. The mats in Las Vegas just went cold after the biggest masters event on the calendar, and in five days the sport's center of gravity moves to Poland for ADCC. Here is where things stand.
Master Worlds and Jiu-Jitsu CON Take Over Las Vegas
The 2026 World Master IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship ran September 3-5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and the numbers tell the story: 410 divisions, 2,966 registered athletes and 1,260 academies. Brown and black belts opened the week across all seven Master divisions, with several academies stacking podiums on both the men's and women's sides. FloGrappling has the day-by-day breakdown, and the complete brackets are posted at the IBJJF.
Running alongside it was the sixth edition of Jiu-Jitsu CON International, with youth, adult and master brackets plus more than forty brands on the expo floor. If you have ever wanted to compete and shop for a gi in the same building, that is the week.
ADCC 2026: Krakow, Poland, This Saturday
The 2026 ADCC World Championship hits the Tauron Arena in Krakow on September 12-13 — the first ADCC Worlds ever held in Poland, the first outside the United States since 2019, and the first in Europe since Espoo, Finland in 2017. Five men's weight classes (from 66kg up through +99kg), three women's weight classes and the absolute divisions are on the line. FloGrappling has the full event primer and streams the whole thing.
The headline match is the superfight: Kaynan Duarte vs. Yuri Simoes for the vacant title. Duarte earned the shot by winning absolute at ADCC 2024, and the belt came open when Gordon Ryan retired. It is a rematch of sorts — Duarte beat Simoes on points in the second round of ADCC 2019 on the way to his first title.
Micael Galvao is FloGrappling's No. 1 pound-for-pound no-gi grappler and is favored to repeat at 77kg. Other 2024 division champions in the mix include Diogo Reis, Giancarlo Bodoni, Felipe Pena, Adele Fornarino, Ana Carolina Vieira and Rafaela Guedes.
On the business side, Jits Magazine reports ADCC raised its prize money for 2026 for the first time in years, while also reporting that the women's absolute division has been dropped from this edition — a decision that has drawn plenty of criticism from the community.
This Week on FloGrappling
Friday, September 11 brings the 2026 ADCC Amateur World Championships and the ADCC World Championships Bracket Reveal Show. Saturday, September 12 is the main event — the ADCC World Championships — with Fight to Win 324 closing out the night.
Looking one week further, September 19 is loaded: the Shamrock Cup, Fight to Win 325, Carioca, the CBJJE International BJJ Championships, the ADCC Nashville Open and the ADCC Ecuador Open all land on the same day. The full slate lives on the FloGrappling schedule.
UFC BJJ Opens Hits Phoenix
UFC BJJ continues building its grassroots pipeline with a UFC BJJ Open in Phoenix on Sunday, September 13 at the Phoenix Convention Center, with youth divisions on the card. The Opens series is designed as a clear path from local competition up to UFC BJJ events and, eventually, a UFC BJJ world title.
