Jiu-Jitsu Weekly Roundup · Sunday, July 12, 2026

A Grand Prix decided by the narrowest of margins, the ADCC field taking shape for Krakow, and a headline-grabbing crossover match — here is your week in grappling.

Polaris 38: Szczecinski Outlasts a Stacked Welterweight Field

Mateusz Szczecinski confirmed his standing as one of the most dangerous welterweights in no-gi, winning the Polaris 38 Grand Prix on Saturday with three straight victories — two by submission before edging PJ Barch in a razor-close split decision in the final — to take home the title and $30,000, per Jits Magazine's full results. The bracket, previewed in FloGrappling's Grappling Bulletin, also featured Deandre Corbe among a deep field.

In championship action on the same card, Sarah Galvao submitted Zara Di Tofano with an arm-triangle choke to claim the women's bantamweight title, adding Polaris gold to an already remarkable young career.

Road to Krakow: ADCC 2026 Field Takes Shape

The 2026 ADCC World Championship is set for September 12–13 at Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland, and the invite list grew this week. Per FloGrappling, pound-for-pound standouts Dante Leon and Helena Crevar have officially accepted their invitations — with Crevar moving up to +65kg — and Finland's Santeri Lillius is in at -88kg. Rafael Lovato Jr., a 2024 finalist, announced he will pass on his invite to focus on previously agreed pro matches. FloGrappling's running list of every athlete invited to ADCC 2026 is worth bookmarking as the brackets fill in.

The ADCC Open circuit also kept rolling this weekend with events in Miami and Santiago, Chile on Saturday, per FloGrappling's event calendar.

UFC BJJ: Musumeci vs Bryce Mitchell Is On

The crossover match everyone has been talking about is happening. Mikey Musumeci has accepted UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell's grappling challenge, with the match reported for UFC BJJ 11 on September 24. Mitchell has been outspoken about Musumeci's guard-heavy style; Musumeci, characteristically, says he is not worried. Before that, UFC BJJ 10 lands on August 20 — three weeks out from ADCC — with the card still to be announced.

Also making noise this week: Gordon Ryan issued a public challenge to Kron Gracie after a back-and-forth on Instagram, per FloGrappling — notable given Ryan announced his retirement earlier this year.

Fight to Win Keeps Rolling

Fight to Win ran twice this week — F2W 320 in Sacramento on Friday and Battle of the Badge 8 on Saturday — and F2W 321 is already set for next Saturday, July 18, per FloGrappling's schedule.

The Week Ahead and the Grassroots Calendar

On the pro and federation side, Toro Cup 37 hits the Durham Armory in North Carolina on Sunday, July 19, and the IBJJF is in Orlando on July 23, per FloGrappling.

For competitors looking for mat time, the SmoothComp upcoming events calendar is loaded through midsummer: United Grappling in Las Vegas (July 18), the AZBJJL Arizona State Championship, the 2026 Los Angeles Jiu-Jitsu Open, Grappling Industries stops in San Diego and New Mexico, the NAGA Albuquerque Grappling Championship, a UFC BJJ Open in Vegas, and Grappling X's West Coast Jiu-Jitsu Championships in Westlake, CA on August 9. Wherever you are, there is a bracket with your name on it.
