Polaris 38: Szczecinski Outlasts a Stacked Welterweight Field
Mateusz Szczecinski confirmed his standing as one of the most dangerous welterweights in no-gi, winning the Polaris 38 Grand Prix on Saturday with three straight victories — two by submission before edging PJ Barch in a razor-close split decision in the final — to take home the title and $30,000, per Jits Magazine's full results. Road to Krakow: ADCC 2026 Field Takes Shape
The 2026 ADCC World Championship is set for September 12–13 at Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland, and the invite list grew this week. Per FloGrappling, pound-for-pound standouts Dante Leon and Helena Crevar have officially accepted their invitations — with Crevar moving up to +65kg — and Finland's Santeri Lillius is in at -88kg. Rafael Lovato Jr., a 2024 finalist, announced he will pass on his invite to focus on previously agreed pro matches. Mikey Musumeci has accepted UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell's grappling challenge, with the match reported for UFC BJJ 11 on September 24. Mitchell has been outspoken about Musumeci's guard-heavy style; Musumeci, characteristically, says he is not worried. Before that, UFC BJJ 10 lands on August 20 — three weeks out from ADCC — with the card still to be announced.
Also making noise this week: Gordon Ryan issued a public challenge to Kron Gracie after a back-and-forth on Instagram, per FloGrappling — notable given Ryan announced his retirement earlier this year.
