Women's absolute: Sarah Galvao doubles up

Sarah Galvao was the star of the weekend, taking both the lightweight and open-class titles. She capped it with a 6-0 win over Gabi Pessanha in the absolute final, with Beatrice Jin and Elisabeth Clay sharing the bronze.

Men's absolute: Gabriel Ribeiro on top

On the men's side, Gabriel Ribeiro won the open class, running through the bracket with a rear-naked choke of Francisco Papasidero and an 8-0 win over Harryson Pereira, ahead of Gabriel Galvao in second.

The mindset takeaway

Galvao stepped into a bracket with the sport's most dominant heavyweight and won on points. Sometimes the biggest wins come from the willingness to compete above your size.
